Underdogs- APC Singapore 2006. 21 – 26th November 2006.

After 9 months of training and after we started playing inline hockey, we finally went somewhere. It all started with a dream, now has become a reality. The trip we took was a bold and daring trip, which many of the underdogs put in all their heart and soul to make this happen.

To begin, we would like to thank our sponsors: Main Sponsor: EIDER & Co-Sponsor: Suzuki for sponsoring our team as we played in Singapore. I would like to thank my dad, uncle John for helping us get the sponsorship from EIDER.

Lina arrived in Singapore on Monday morning to check out the hotels, the 10 guys: Anuar, RAmesh, Destine, Craig, Jarrod, Addi, Nick, Herman, Junior, Steve too the Nice++ Coach to Singapore.. what a noisy whacko group to take care off!

We arrived in Singapore on the 21st November, Tuesday afternoon and headed to our Hotel in Orchard Road, The Strands hotel.

On the second day, we all woke up, had our breakfast and packed our stuff and moved to the resort near Tampanese Rink, called Costa Sands Downtown east. It is an amazing place with BBQ pits, Jackpot machines, 24 hour Mc Donalds, a water park, a theme park, everything la, shops, etc. The best part is yet to come, in the evening, I get a call from Barry of Skatesports. He willingly volunteered to pick up all our bags to bring it to the rink. I mean, we just only met the guy and a favour that we will remember. Once there, he introduces us to his left hand guy, Apu. A happy funny guy who helped us to store our huge bags in their locker and open it everyday. Instead of bringing our stuff back and forth. We will also remember. We felt so welcomed in Singapore.

We played all right on the 1st day, 22nd November- Tuesday night. The first game against the Piranhas+Strikers vs Underdogs. Craig had to play goal keeper for the team. Our keeper Leon couldn’t make it down because his grandpa wasn’t feeling well. Well Craig sacrificed his manly hood for the team.. you should have seen him jump for the puck..

The 2nd game was against Skatesports team. This time Herman decided to play keeper. This time was fun. Where we player half time puck & halftime ball. You should have seen how the ball moved with light speed. It was only fair, since its our first time playing with the puck.. its also the first time our Singaporean brothers and sisters played with the ball. Poor izwan had a double leg cramp in the 1st and 2nd game. Overall we did ok.

After the game, we all headed back to clean up. Man I tell you, our bodies were all in pain. We have never played to hard in our lives. To bed most of us went. And some like Lina & Steve helped out by doing the laundry for the team every night after every game. Thanks guys.

2nd day, game against the Panthers & Sundae. Our game improved much better as we carried on. Again we played half time ball & puck. Check out the pictures. After the game, we head back to our resort, we had good news that Leon is on his way to play for us. Also our Imported Hockey jersey was on the way. At 2am, they both arrived. Amen! That night, Jarrod, Destine, Herman, Junior and Lily went out to MOS clubbing. Guess who ‘tidur’ in the toilet? Junior stole the toilet crown from Ramesh. Hahaaaa!

The 3rd & final day Ok. We woke up in the morning, went to the Wild Wild Wet theme park in our Resort and we had a freaking blast. The half pipe slide was amazing, 87 degrees fall and Jarrod left his balls after trying it once. The rest went 2 times.

Underdogs- APC Singapore 2006. 21 – 26th November 2006.

Evening came and to the rink we went, we played the Piranhas mixed with Skatesports vs Team underdogs. This was best game we played ever. All our players were calm and steady. We played with the puck all the way. We scored 9 goals. Craig scored 4, Ramesh, 1, Izwan 2, Nick 2. And Herman & Leon played keeper during that game. After the game, we took many pictures and exchanged ideas and game plays with the Piranhas and man we learnt a lot. This we took back with us to Malaysia. There is so much to do and learn man. Cant wait to make things happen. Fi & Zu from Piranhas gave us so much tips and also a lift back to our Resort, where Apu and the Skatesports team joined us for a BBQ. The night ended with great food and beer enough for everyone.
